long did it take? It's still ongoing, but the guts of it took approximately 18 months on and off from the start to driving state. |

Did you do it all yourself? Yep. I did get some help from mates when things got too heavy or I ran out of ideas but labour wise I didn't pay anyone. |

Was it easy? Define easy? I've midmounted a 20B turbo EFI rotary into a Datsun 1000 ute so in comparison yes it was easy. Nothing was difficult, just time consuming. |

dramas/issues did you come across along the way? I get asked this very often. Just about every step of the way created a new drama. It would take a month of Sundays to list them all. If you are serious about the conversion and have a specific problem ask away and I'll do my best to answer. Please dont ask me to list them all. |

Can you tell me exactly how you did everything and what you would do
different next time? I'd probably do most of it differently. I initially did the conversion "to see if I could" and there are several things I will do differently on the 2 door. As I explained before I wont explain how I did everything. Have a go and if you get stuck fire away. |

What did you do about the sump? I made it. Basically it's a falcon bolt pattern with a sump made to it. Because of my engine position the cortina bulge would have made it sit too high so I made it to take approx 6.5L engine oil. Pick up I made from scratch using a hi-volume cleveland strainer and modifying main bolts to support the pickup. |

What did you do about engine
mounts? I made them. Cortina rubbers and home-made bracketry. |

What did I
do about exhaust manifold/exhaust system? Had a header plate cut out then modified a set of falcon extractors to suit. For the exhaust system I bought a muffler and a box of mandrel bends and made it myself. |

stay cool? Yes. Very. |

| How does it
run? Excellent. It idles smoothly, it's quiet, uses about $40/fortnight fuel, starts first pop everytime and it has the power to run in the high 13's. |

What colour am I going to
paint it? Thats it, I like flat black |

| What's next? Convert it to hydraulic clutch. Remove the booster and master cylinder from the engine bay including a line-locker. Well I havent done any of this as yet. Whats next now is to get the injection running 100%. |

Will
an EF, EL, AU, BA Engine fit in a TC/TD/TE/TF Cortina? With the exception of the AU and the BA, all E series falcon engines will fit in a cortina. The AU and a BA had a cast alloy sump which also contained two bolts for each main cap so unless you know how to weld cast alloy the sump wont fit in a cortina engine bay. The EF/EL plenums will hit the heater box in all models. EA/B/D plenums will hit the inner guards on a TE/TF. |

Can I get clear

By temporarily I mean pretty much permanent unless someone has some hidden stock in their sheds somewhere. Still plenty of MK4(TE) and MK5(TF) units left. |

Why did I get banned from FAF? Technically speaking I didnt get banned, my permissions were deleted. To cut a long story short; I had an issue with a particular member of admin who felt the rules only applied to members and told him so. He told me he can do whatever he likes because he's admin and doesnt have to explain himself to me and offered me a box of tissues. I reminded him that it's the members that make the forums and not admin and told him to get fucked. At this point I became hot gossip in the ivory towers of FAF and my password was changed or removed so I could no longer log in. The little girls even removed me from the footy tipping LOL. No big deal, when the admin feel they need to add to the already climbing dickhead ratio then I don't miss it. I am not the first to be removed for pretty much the same thing |

there an easier way? Yes there is. If you dont want the hassles of wiring, injection, fuel tanks etc then run it dedicated lpg. |

Why did I
change the number plates on Black Betty? Everything which was added by Tickford Engineering to enhance it's performance no longer exists so technically the engine is no longer a Tickford. The TIK4D plates are now on my XR6 ute. It now wears Prozac plates because it makes me happy everytime i drive it. If you dont know what Prozac is, google it. |

How did I get on
registering the V8? I just followed the DPI rules and got the relevant permissions beforehand. Its no big deal and they pretty much set out clear guidelines to follow |

Did I have to
do a brake upgrade for the V8? Not by law no. That was my choice. |

Was the 5 stud
conversion essential for V8? Same again, it was done by my choice mainly for rim selection. |
